The Golden State Warriors pulled off fans expectations, tying the Chicago Bulls 1995-1996 regular season win record of 72 wins.

The Warriors were able to get that much closer to making history when they defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night by a score of 92-86, with the help of Stephen Curry‘s 37 points (13-22 field goals made). Although it may seem irrelevant to the situation, the Warriors were able to end the Spurs 40-game home winning streak. With their next game being on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Warriors are just one win away from owning the bulls record at 73 wins.

“Obviously, we’re in the moment, enjoying the ride,” Curry said. “The goal is to win a championship. That’s the goal. But we put ourselves in a great position to end the season with a win and do something no team has done in the history. That’s an amazing accomplishment.”

With the playoffs being less than a week away, the Warriors will surely be on their game and go into Game one with confidence after eventually beating the Bulls record. The way their three big players (Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson) play on the offensive and defensive end will set the tone for the team.

On the other hand with the Spurs, one will expect Head Coach Gregg Popovich to have a game plan against the Warriors if they meet again in the playoffs. The way Kawhi Leonard and Lamarcus Aldridge having been playing this season. The two have became a really important factor to to their veterans such as Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker who have been losing much fuel in their tank as they had in the past years. “They just exploded,” Spurs forward David West said. “Steph just took over the game. We weren’t able to get to him, keep bodies in front of him.”

“The Warriors play could not be matched throughout the regular season and the chances that they lose that momentum is pretty slim,” junior Mohamed Shah said.

Tune in Wednesday in 10:30 eastern standard time as they face off the Memphis Grizzlies, as the team tries to make history.
